Barri Griffiths, who was a part of WWE as Mason Ryan from 2011 to 2014, recently had a chat with Metro during which he reflected on his experiences as part of the New Nexus during his tenure with the company.
Key takeaways from Griffiths’ interview are captured below:
About his debut on the main roster: “Not sure if one can ever be fully prepared for such things. I was quite green, but I was what they needed back then – a tall, muscular guy with a distinctive look. So they brought me on rather quickly – perhaps too early, but who knows?”
On his 2011 hamstring injury: “Minor incidents can have major effects on your career. Imagine if Roman Reigns had a similar injury or experience, he could have been left out in the cold.”
Reflecting on the end of his WWE journey: “I was in my early thirties at that time, 33, 34. Moving to work with Cirque Du Soleil, doing five performances every week, I knew the change would probably end my wrestling career. It was a tough choice given the effort I put into wrestling, but I don’t regret it. I’m now part of an amazing team in Cirque du Soleil, delivering stellar performances each night. And I believe there’s more to come.”
