This year marked the fifth anniversary of AEW, and Aubrey Edwards shared her thoughts about her time with the organization.
In a recent episode of “The Wrestling Classic” podcast, Edwards dove into the progress AEW has achieved in its initial five years.
Edwards remarked, “It’s amazing to see we as a company have experienced, acknowledging that for a year and a half during the pandemic we stationed in Jacksonville and it feels like an eternity ago. The sense of camaraderie that persists feels akin to family, a cliché but nonetheless true. Like when Tony Khan remembered my dietary restrictions on his birthday, offering me one of the vegan, gluten-free cupcakes he ordered. It’s unbelievable considering all that’s occurred, how we have expanded to rival a company that has a history of more than forty years.”
Big Bill is of the opinion that Luke Gallows and Finn Balor significantly contributed to his return to wrestling.
Bill is a currently an AEW regular, after his tenure in TNA Wrestling during 2021 and 2022, where he adopted the name W. Morrissey and shared his journey towards sobriety.
On the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast, he fondly recalled how Gallows helped him step back into the ring and Balor’s guidance during his TNA tenure. Some of the podcast highlights are:
On meeting with Gallows: “Ultimately, in November 2020, I decided to meet Gallows in Atlanta. In a casual conversation, I considered restarting my wrestling career. There was a spark that day at Gallows’ place that reignited my wrestling passion.”
On garnering support from Finn Balor: “Before joining Impact, I had a brief conversation with Finn, expressing my gratitude towards WWE for supporting my rehab. He suggested discussing it with Hunter (Triple H). Thus, prior to moving to Impact, I texted Hunter expressing my appreciation.”
On joining AEW: “I was initially taken aback by the invitation,” he said. “QT Marshall and MJF got in touch, offering me a match with Wardlow. I thought, why not? This was a splendid opportunity. Perhaps they thought I would be reluctant to admit defeat. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about winning or losing.”
