During a fresh episode of his podcast “My World”, WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Jarrett took a trip down memory lane. He shared his experience of facing Jeff Hardy during the main event of the TNA Victory Road 2004.
Here are some noteworthy points from the podcast:
Regarding his match with Jeff Hardy at the Victory Road 2004 main event, Jarrett revealed, “When I see that poster, I still recall the enormous ladder. I remember him saying, ‘Yeah, we’re going to do this and that.’ And my reaction was like, ‘Wow, okay’… If Jeff Hardy’s leading the event, the audience expect a Jeff Hardy match type, or a Jeff Hardy move or simply to see Jeff Hardy Himself. He completely concurred with this. Before the build-up for the match, he spontaneously asked, ‘Hey, man, would it be possible to get a ladder bigger than eight feet?’ ‘Of course, let’s arrange that.’ The ladder needed to be double-sided and all. His response when asked how tall he wanted the ladder was, ‘I want it big.’ It’s surprising how the change of a ladder size from eight to even 10 or 12 feet can be so significant.”
Jarrett’s thoughts on Jeff Hardy were, “I’ve come to understand over the years, some wrestlers just have a different psyche. Jeff’s one of them. The term Daredevil fits him perfectly. You can describe different talents in various ways. But Jeff Hardy- the Charismatic Enigma, has this unique connection with the crowd that makes him stand out. It’s hard to specifically define it. His distinct look, wrestling techniques, promo skills, daredevil stunts, psychology – everything is unique about Jeff. But it’s his connection or drawing capability or anything else — which you can’t really describe that makes Jeff special. He comes with this rare ‘it’ factor that is very sporadic to find in talent that can attract an audience.”
