Three years ago, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam received an induction honour. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the circumstances surrounding the event.

The induction of RVD occurred in 2021. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony was held in a crowdless Thunderdome, where the 2020 and 2021 classes were inducted.

In a recent episode of the “Wrestling Life” podcast, Van Dam equated his disappointment to an analogy from his school days. He remarked,

“I felt privileged to get the induction. However, having no crowd due to COVID did feel a bit of a letdown. I’ve attended so many Hall of Fame functions, listened to speeches that went on forever, and then when it was our turn, we were asked to limit our speeches to just three to five minutes. It’s like the time in high school when all the grade levels sell candy to fundraise for the senior trip, but when it’s finally your turn, the plan changes and instead of heading to the Bahamas, you end up at a local amusement park.”

Van Dam also pointed out that the induction speech fans heard was but a fraction of the original speech he had prepared for the evening. He added,

“The speech audiences saw was a condensed nine-minute version, but my original speech was a good 27 minutes. I admittedly overstepped the three-minute allotment quite a bit, but other than a few remarks on its length, no one seemed to mind.”

Besides that, RVD also shared his opinion on WWE ID, WWE’s latest talent scouting initiative. Click here for more information on his views.
