Bill Goldberg Respects Brock Lesnar For Chasing Doomed NFL Career

Although Brock Lesnar did not make significant inroads in the realm of the NFL, his efforts are highly respected by Bill Goldberg, who appreciates Lesnar’s ambition to delve into football.

In 2004, after exiting the WWE due to his widely criticized match against Goldberg at WWE WrestleMania 20 in March, Lesnar set his sights on the NFL.

During an interaction with Scott Johnson from News 4 Jacksonville, Goldberg commended Lesnar’s pursuit of his dreams in spite of the fact it didn’t quite pan out. His exact words were,

“Yeah, you know, he gave it a shot for sure. I mean, he was a wrestler, never played football, and with that type of physical package, I mean, why not give it a shot? More power to him. That was unbelievable that he tried to accomplish that.”

Prior to his NFL pursuit, Lesnar hadn’t played football since high school and still managed to attract interest from multiple teams.

Following a groin injury, in July, Lesnar became part of the Minnesota Vikings and participated in pre-season matches before being cut in August 2004.

Although Lesnar was offered a chance to join the Vikings in NFL Europa, he respectfully declined the opportunity to stay with his family in the U.S. In 2012, he made his way back to the WWE.
