Big Bill, previously known as Big Cass in WWE, admitted that he initially disliked his new ring name in All Elite Wrestling.
In August of 2022, the wrestler who was earlier referred to as W. Morrissey during his TNA Wrestling stint, became part of Tony Khan’s wrestling promotion. He first appeared in May.
He disclosed during an interview on the “Talk Is Jericho” podcast that he wasn’t fond of his new ring alias, Big Bill, until he learned that it was proposed by Tony Khan himself. He recounted,
“When I started here, MJF and a few others asked me, ‘What’s your opinion on the name Big Bill?’ Initially, I was not a fan. But when I learnt that it was Tony Khan’s idea and he was very enthusiastic about it, I instantly found it excellent.”
In a recent episode of the “The Flagrant” podcast, Cody Rhodes, a fellow wrestler, expressed his views on how critical it is to avoid overpricing oneself on the independent wrestling circuit.
After separating from WWE in 2016, Rhodes took part in several indie shows without charging a fee.
Rhodes commented, saying, “One of the essential things to remember is that you can’t impose an exorbitant charge on the independent shows. I’ve observed some wrestlers from WWE overpricing themselves to an extent where the promoters, despite having 200 seats at, say or each, and some earnings from merchandising, can’t afford them. I refused to be one of them as I wanted regular bookings.”
He elaborated, “I couldn’t undervalue myself either. Some shows I did for free, while for others I charged 00 or 0. It was quite varied. My target was to ensure the promoters had an enjoyable experience. I would interact extensively with them during the post-show meet and greet, ensuring that they would rebook me. The one thing that irritates me about today’s indie wrestling scene is the inflated pricing. Owing to the considerable money now involved in wrestling, many are demanding high prices, first-class facilities, even when the audience is relatively small. My earnings on the indie scene were indeed less than what I made at WWE, but with effort, one can secure a decent income.”
