Malakai Black recently made an update regarding his status with AEW through his Instagram Stories. This came after several rumors had begun to circulate regarding his potential exit from AEW, following Tuesday night’s episode of Dynamite.
During the bout on Wednesday’s program, Black chose to embrace his counterpart, Cole, rather than shake his hand after the match. This gesture fueled speculations backstage, hinting at a possible farewell.
Black, however, used social media to set the record straight – he confirmed that he is neither planning to retire nor exit AEW, and restated that he is not currently facing any injuries.
He made his standpoint clear with this statement, “Yet again, here we are. The match has concluded and still everybody thinks, ‘Ah, he’s hanging his boots up. He’s bowing out due to injury,’ and the like. Let me clarify, I am none of the above. I am not injured, nor do I plan to retire, nor am I leaving. It confounds me how often this conjecture arises after every match, and it’s surprising when people fall for these rumors time and again. I haven’t been sidelined due to an injury for over three years. I am referring to my previous back injury, of course. I only chose to disclose information about it post-recovery. As far as my current condition goes, I am completely fine. I have been fine for quite some time now. I would greatly appreciate it if such rumors would cease. If I decide to retire, it will be communicated directly from me. And as far as Adam offering thanks after the match, it was merely a kind gesture and nothing more.”
