Jim Ross Predicts Long AEW Future Ahead For Chris Jericho

Even though some enthusiasts may be weary of Chris Jericho’s presence in AEW, esteemed commentator Jim Ross forecasts a long tenure for this seasoned wrestler in Tony Khan’s franchise.

Jericho has been an integral part of AEW right from the beginning, regularly attributing his extensive appeal in the mainstream to establishing the legitimacy of the company.

In a recent episode of his podcast named “Grilling JR”, Ross expressed his mutual admiration for Jericho. He said,

“He’s always been an advocate of mine, and it’s reciprocal. When he got hired by Tony Khan in AEW, I thought that was one of the smartest things that Tony could have done to help stabilize his roster, his new roster, and Chris Jericho has been a great addition since day one. He calls most of his own shots now, and why not?”

Conrad Thompson queried Ross about Jericho’s future in AEW, to which Ross believed there’s a lot in store for him in AEW. He responded,

“Even though he’s not a spring chicken, he stays in great shape. He’s a keeper. If Tony Khan is smart, and he is, Chris is gonna be a part of the company for the foreseeable future and a long time to come.

“I do think that somewhere down the road, when he and Tony Khan make the decision to say that’s enough, that he’ll get a sendoff like Sting’s, in that sense, special occasion, big-time deal. I just don’t think it’s anytime soon.”

Jericho has a significant track record in AEW as the inaugural World Champion, having secured the title in 2019, and clinching the FTW Championship earlier this year.

Currently, he is in his second term as the Ring of Honor World Champion after defeating Mark Briscoe in a ladder match on the AEW Dynamite episode of October 23rd.
