Was WWE’s decision to have Cody Rhodes defeat GUNTHER in the recent WWE Crown Jewel pay-per-view a good one? Bully Ray certainly thinks so.
During the November 2 main event, Rhodes emerged victorious against GUNTHER, giving GUNTHER his second televised pinfall loss of 2024 and grabbing the Champion’s title at Crown Jewel.
In a recent episode of “Busted Open Radio”, Bully Ray elaborated on why he believes Rhodes’ triumph was the fitting choice considering WWE’s close ties with Saudi Arabia. He asserted,
“Is Cody’s victory the justified outcome? It is certainly a beneficial choice from the perspective of the massive corporate entity with its substantial monetary collaboration with the Crown Jewel. Your jubilant, World Champion protagonist takes the win. In contrast, Liv is not the beaming Women’s World Champion protagonist. However, choosing Liv was also the right move.”
Besides getting the title, Rhodes was also presented with a championship ring, an honor that will be bestowed upon the victor of the Crown Jewel title matches every year henceforth.
Next, Rhodes will focus on SmackDown and his escalating feud with Kevin Owens following the latter’s heel-turn in WWE Bad Blood.
The newly crowned WWE Crown Jewel Champion is advertised for the upcoming Friday’s edition of SmackDown, along with Roman Reigns.
