In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, professional wrestler Shelton Benjamin spoke about his time with WWE as well as the process of revamping his persona in AEW.

Scheduled to appear in the next episode of AEW Dynamite at the SNHU Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire tomorrow, are Benjamin and the wrestling group The Hurt Syndicate.

Below are some noteworthy excerpts from the podcast:

On reflecting on his WWE journey, Shelton Benjamin said, “Things haven’t always gone my way. For me, it’s mainly been about underutilization because I think there’s a generation of wrestling enthusiasts who don’t perceive me the way I wish to be seen.”

Regarding the revamp of his persona, he stated, “Indeed, there’s a process of image overhaul happening, as I am certainly not the same individual I was in WWE. And I don’t aspire to be.”

Talking about his stint with WWE, he expressed, “My time in WWE is something I treasure because it significantly improved my life. My pleasant memories outnumber the unpleasant ones. It’s not so much about validating myself to others as it is about demonstrating what they’ve overlooked all this while.”
