My input…
While browsing through diverse opinions online, I’ve realized that most of these exciting ideas may not turn out to be true. My guess is that Ava’s announcement is a simple one, hyped as special only to generate intrigue among potential viewers.
Let’s go over some prevalent speculations before I reveal my opinion.
Many are guessing about an NXT Hardcore Championship due to the ECW setting, but it seems unrealistic. The hardcore title will always have its fan base, but is there an actual need for any additional championship belts in NXT? Would a gimmick title even make sense if there was?
Others are predicting the debut of Hikuleo under the alias of Talla Tonga, announced by Ava as a new member of the so-called Bloodline. But why would that happen now? Ava’s portrayal has always been of a babyface GM, making this prediction odd. Additionally, she hasn’t been associated with the Bloodline at all, so what’s the linkage?
I also doubt the revival of NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships, the comeback of NXT UK, or anything related to ECW.
My predictions are three-fold, listed from the least likely to most:
3) The unveiling of an NXT vs TNA pay-per-view showdown scheduled for December. I won’t completely dismiss this possibility, but it makes more sense if TNA stars were currently stirring up some drama.
2) The recurrence of the NXT Breakout Tournament, with the disclosure of contenders for both men’s and women’s brackets. Considering the women’s tournament is due and the men’s concluded in January this year, this could be a suitable time to start afresh.
1) My primary guess is that the announcement might be about the NXT Deadline happening in December, detailing the comeback of the Iron Survivor Challenge matches and introducing competitors for the qualifying matches. This would offer a handy way to fill up some time in November and part of December with these matches without overexerting during the holiday season.
Is this somewhat disappointing? Perhaps. But whenever wrestling promotions claim to have a special announcement, my hunch is it’s typically not earth-shattering. But let’s watch out for tomorrow night and see if I’m right or wrong.
