Kurt Angle, the WWE Hall of Famer, disclosed that he did not receive any payment for his life documentary that was telecast on Peacock. Angle participated in the “Julian Dorey” podcast recently and spoke about the documentary titled ANGLE. It was produced by Alex Perry and made its debut on Peacock.
During the podcast, Angle shared, “A young Hollywood producer, Alex Perry, approached me for the ‘ANGLE’ documentary. He knew my story as a big wrestling fanatic and offered to create a documentary about me, promising that we could profit significantly. Initially, I thought this venture could be lucrative.”
“While everyone assumed I would make money from it, the reality is that I didn’t earn a single penny. The reason behind this was because WWE acquired it. Alex sold it to WWE instead of exploring other platforms like Netflix. WWE then aired it on Peacock, which does not reach a global audience. My intent was to spread awareness about addiction all over the world.”
Regrettably, WWE only showed the documentary on Peacock and then handed it over to A&E to broadcast it. A&E subsequently uploaded it on YouTube for free viewing. Angle remarked, “Even though the documentary is now free to watch on YouTube, I didn’t receive any money. WWE and Alex may have profited from it, but I made nothing. Alex did an excellent job with the documentary.”
Recently, Angle announced that a film about his life and his Olympic victory during the Atlanta Summer Games is in progress. Moreover, he disclosed that he was charged thousands by Vince McMahon for laughing during filming sessions.
