In an impressive landmark victory, Samoa Joe clinched the AEW World Championship at AEW Worlds End 2023. After his title defeat, an intense feud commenced with Chris Jericho, quickly turning personal. The Samoan was temporarily written out of the AEW storyline, but information about his comeback has now been revealed.
On the episode of AEW Dynamite on July 10th, a Canadian Stampede Street Fight was held between Chris Jericho and Joe. In a surprising development, Jericho used a forklift to thrust Joe into a wall.
The contest had to end abruptly as a badly injured Joe could not continue, and had to be taken to the hospital on a stretcher.
Joe’s temporary hiatus from TV was planned to provide him the time to work on the second season of “Twisted Metal” on the Peacock network.
Dave Meltzer, on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, divulged about Joe’s imminent return to AEW, hinting that the wrestling veteran of 45, should be making a comeback soon, owing to the closure of filming for his project this week.
Meltzer highlighted that Joe is now ready for action and his return to AEW is anticipated at the earliest convenience.
In the meantime, Joe’s character has been formally introduced in the video game “Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii”.
