It’s time for another eWrestlingNews Q&A session!
The much-awaited WWE Crown Jewel 2024 is scheduled for this afternoon. Remember, the main card unfurls at 1pm ET. And before the event kicks off, let’s don our predicting hats and discuss the matches announced for today.
So, our query for today is – “Who are your preferred winners in the matches listed for WWE Crown Jewel 2024?”
Make sure to post your predictions in the comments section below.
My personal predictions are as follows:
Seth Rollins vs Bronson Reed
Deciding the winner in this match isn’t easy. The wrestling fan in me hopes for a Reed triumph, but my instincts tell me the WWE narrative could favor Rollins. Reed was slated for a haphazard title face-off against Rollins at the earlier Elimination Chamber, which I believe would have ended in Rollins retaining the title. I suspect the same logic might prevail in this match, but Rollins’ extended absence could sway the WWE decision towards him.
My guess is the WWE will continue this rivalry with Reed, leading Rollins to challenge Gunther in the future. The possibility of Rollins contesting for the title at Survivor Series isn’t discarded, but it’s not certain either. Punk may be the candidate for that match. We also have to consider the Royal Rumble in December and January. But I’d prefer both Rollins and Punk for that platform and save the title fight with Gunther for Goldberg.
If there is to be another match between Rollins and Reed, Reed should emerge victoriously. However, if this is a standalone match, my bet is on Rollins.
Six-Man Tag Team Match: Roman Reigns and The Usos (Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso) vs. The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and/or Jacob Fatu)
I envision two possible outcomes here. I prefer maintaining suspense and making the Bloodline seem vulnerable, resulting in their defeat in WarGames. Another preferred scenario would be Sikoa pinning Reigns, thereby claiming his position as the Tribal Chief. Post-match, he could save the day by making it a 4-on-3 scenario with the help of Sami Zayn.
Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship: LA Knight (c) vs. Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes
I wish for Hayes to clinch the title. In my opinion, LA Knight no longer needs to retain the title and it’s restricting him. Andrade’s involvement seems irrelevant at this point and Hayes offers potential for the future.
An ideal scenario would be Hayes pinning Andrade, giving Hayes the victory from the Best of Seven Series. This, combined with Knight’s argument that he lost without getting pinned, leads to a one-on-one match between Hayes and Knight. After Hayes wins, Knight moves onto a rivalry with Kevin Owens after resolving his issues with Randy Orton.
Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton
In my view, this match rightfully belongs to Kevin Owens. I foresee Randy Orton battling Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, Owens should be prepared to challenge Rhodes again at Survivor Series, or perhaps at Saturday Night’s Main Event if he can extend the narrative. Owens looks like a worthy opponent for Cody, only if he defeats The Viper and mimics Triple H’s injury.
Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair (c) vs. Damage CTRL (Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky) vs. Meta-Four (Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson) vs. Chelsea Green and Piper Niven
Here, it’s a toss-up between teams for the title. The title could shift to keep the belts rotating among Belair and Cargill, similar to previous situations. The other scenario is the match intended to increase women’s presence on the card with titles remaining with the current champions. Since the potential feud dynamics remain vague, I do not predict Belair and Cargill parting ways soon. On the contrary, I predict them entering the Mania stage with tag titles intact.
I’m betting on the current champions for now. While it may not be the most exciting outcome, it’s the safest bet.
Women’s Crown Jewel Championship Match: Liv Morgan vs. Nia Jax
This match was unexpected. The match might not be exceptional and interestingly, the focal point revolves around whether Tiffany Stratton would cash in. If she does, it should be against Jax instead of Morgan. But I suspect a hoax to generate interest in a potential cash-in, only for Stratton to be defeated by Raquel Rodriguez.
Jax could win drawing Stratton away from attempting a cash-in, or both Raquel and Dominik Mysterio could intervene costing Jax the match. Initially, I assumed that Rhea Ripley would interfere disadvantaging Liv, but now, I’m inclined towards a Liv win.
Men’s Crown Jewel Championship Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Gunther
Gunther needs this victory. Not just to reconcile for his elimination from the Royal Rumble by Rhodes, but also to prevent the frustrating “the good guy always wins” trope. The WWE should be cautious about repeating the Super Cena storyline. In addition, Owens’ interference, staging a threat to Cody’s victory, becomes a straightforward strategy that shouldn’t be overlooked.
