Marko Stunt, a former AEW wrestler, publicly announced last week that he was wrestling with health concerns that led him to consider his wrestling future. On Friday, he made the decision to retire from the world of professional wrestling official on his Twitter.

A statement from Stunt regarding his retirement can be found below:

“To All My Supporters, Colleagues, and the Wrestling World At Large,

I write this today with an appreciative but heavy heart, as it holds the decision of my retirement from the sphere of professional wrestling. This decision did not come lightly, given that wrestling has been an integral part of my life for a very long time, composing a part of my identity that I am today. It’s been an astonishing journey filled with dedication, tears of joy and heartbreak.

For years, I have offered my physical abilities to the world of professional wrestling. Despite not being the most formidable, I allowed myself to endure the physicality of the sport, and I enjoyed every bit of it. However, after a consultation with my doctor, it was suggested that I focus on my long-term health and cease in-ring competition. Accepting this reality was undoubtedly one of the toughest moments in my career, but I recognize it as the appropriate choice.

Firstly, I would like to extend my profound gratitude to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The platform allowed me to display my skills and share my passion with wrestling fans globally. It was beyond my wildest dreams to wrestle on national television when I began this journey, a dream made possible by AEW. To everyone at AEW, from the production crew to my wrestling family, I extend my thanks for your faith in me and for giving me a place that felt like home.

A special thank you goes to Brett Lauderdale and Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). Brett, you were my stepping stone, and GCW was my career’s springboard. It’s where I found my true self, learned to appreciate my uniqueness, and developed into who I am today, both as a person and a wrestler. Your provided opportunities altered the course of my life forever, and for that, I am infinitely grateful to you.

To all the wrestlers I’ve stepped into the ring with, you know yourselves. Each of you played a significant role in my journey, teaching me invaluable lessons, pushing me beyond my boundaries, and sharing unforgettable moments. Irrespective of whether we were opponents or allies, you all have a special place in my heart.

Lastly, to the fans who continually cheered, supported, and believed in me through every match and show- thank you. Your enthusiasm, chants, and unwavering support motivated me more than you can fathom. You are the industry’s lifeblood, and your support made all of this possible.

As I bow out of the wrestling ring, I leave behind a lifetime of memories and friendships. While I am retiring from in-ring competitions, wrestling will forever remain part of me. My hope is to continue contributing to this fantastic industry in other ways and maintain my connection with all you wonderful people who helped turn my dream into a reality.

Thank you deeply for everything.”
