Samantha Irvin left the professional wrestling scene in shock when she revealed that she’s bidding farewell to WWE before the Monday Night Raw episode, aired on October 16th.
Despite widespread speculation, Irvin reportedly has no plans to move to AEW as she wishes to concentrate on other endeavors after wrapping up her tenure at WWE.
Post her surprise revelation, Irvin had a candid interaction with her fan base on social media platforms. She confessed her aspiration to take up managerial roles instead of continuing as a ringside announcer.
In her tweet, she vehemently stated, “I don’t like announcing,” and elaborated, “I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”
Offering more insights, Irvin incisively conveyed, “They wanted Ricochet to stay in the big leagues. I don’t know why everyone pretending like he was always in great positions at WWE 100. My husband is a millionaire so yes, I don’t have to do a job I don’t like anymore.”
Within the wrestling community, there was a ripple effect due to Irvin’s comment about Ricochet’s financial standing. Fans have shown dissatisfaction before, when wrestlers have migrated to different leagues for better compensation or enhanced opportunities.
As per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, an inside source at WWE stated that the wrestling giant frowns upon its talent discussing with fans in such a direct manner. Similar resentment was surrounded by Jade Cargill but she opted not to make any public comment.
As noted by Meltzer, “The person said that many in WWE respected her decision to leave, but after those posts were not happy about that aspect but because she was gone they couldn’t force her to take it down.”
Adding onto her husband’s standpoint, Irvin inferred that Ricochet is now well-rewarded for matches that he partakes and cherishes.
In an assertive declaration, she stated, “I am so glad I don’t have a boss anymore so I can say this. Shut the f*** upppppp. Woohoo feels great.”
However, WWE has clarified it does not approve its talent responding to fans in such a fashion.
