Jon Moxley Says He’d Probably Be Dead If Not For Renee Paquette, Mercedes Mone Speaks Out

AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley, credits his life to his spouse, Renee Paquette.

In a recent dialogue with Authority Magazine, Moxley shed light on his previous existence before encountering Paquette, stating,

“I consider myself lucky to have benefitted from the wisdom of a diverse set of brilliant minds in the field. I’ve been blessed with several excellent mentors and, given we have two ears but a single mouth, I find it beneficial to listen more than speaking. However, When it comes to awarding an MVP trophy for the major impact in my life, the undisputed recipient would be my wife, Renee Paquette. It’s plausible that I might not be alive today if our paths hadn’t intertwine.”

He further added, “Our paths crossed at a critical time in my life when I was starting to realize some material success, that was a crossroads for me and I could have easily ended up on a more damaging path. Now I had something ACTUALLY precious – this person. Despite all that, I almost ruined everything, so luckily she has been there to hold everything together.”

In the most recent edition of her “Mone Mag” newsletter, Mercedes Mone reflected on the most unforgettable tag-team matches in her professional wrestling career. She noted,

Moné Memories: Unforgettable Tag Team Duels

Reflecting on the most memorable tag team encounters I’ve been part of, two matches stand out. The first one is a multi-person tag. It was Natalia, Bayley and me versus The Riot Squad at WWE Evolution. That match meant a lot to me. Bayley and I were striving for tag team titles. I vividly recall Hunter assuring me at Evolution that we would achieve the tag team titles someday. This match, in particular, was relevant because we aimed to underline the importance of tag team wrestling to the spectators. We even wanted female wrestlers to have something to compete for beyond the usual Monday Night Raw or Smackdown matches. Indeed, this match was a catalyst for the introduction of the women’s tag team title, which was announced by Vince McMahon later that year in December.

The second encounter that comes to mind took place in 2020 or 2021. The match was between Bayley and me against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. Our coach and producer, TJ Wilson, was very enthusiastic about this tag team match. It was a Smackdown showdown where Bayley turned on me. The match was thrilling, with both our teams perfectly in sync. Even now, I cherish the memories as I watch the highlights online.
