In a significant accomplishment for the professional wrestling arena, Jeff Jarrett, from All Elite Wrestling, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his journey towards sobriety.
During a recent episode of his “My World” podcast, Jarrett divulged the length of his sobriety. He expressed,
“This past Friday marked the seventh anniversary of my sobriety. We discussed and somewhat made light of this journey, referring to it as ‘putting the bread in the can’, seven years ago. Entering this journey of sobriety, by the grace of God, I didn’t know what to anticipate. Early in the process, I came to the stark realization that I’m not just thankful to tick the boxes of sobriety, I’m fortunate to be alive in many respects.”
“Now regarding my future, Conrad, it’s almost as if I am walking blind; I truly don’t have any idea. There is scripture suggesting we can make plans but it’s God who knows what lies ahead. Things like a retirement match, which you joked about a title or so, these are currently beyond my reach. I prefer to leave these matters to others, considering I’m not in a position to dictate them.”
Jarrett had grappled with substance misuse for several years and even wrestled under the influence during the 2017 AAA TripleMania XV event.
After a similar incident in October 2017, Jarrett sought help from WWE and his spouse Karen for rehab and has maintained his sobriety ever since his treatment.
His most recent wrestling match was on AEW Collision’s September 25th episode, in which he conceded defeat to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page.
