Jon Moxley has a word or two for those who underestimate the role of being the figurehead in All Elite Wrestling.

Currently holding the prestigious title of AEW World Champion, Moxley had an engaging conversation with News Herald, where he delved into what it feels like being the paramount figure in a major wrestling organization. He was quoted as saying:

“This piece of metal goes from one suitcase to another, and there’s some paperwork filed, but, in all honesty, nothing has been altered. I’ve consistently been the one in that spot for AEW. It’s not a position you simply win in a match or apply for a job. It’s something that you either inherently are, or you aren’t. It’s the throne I occupy until someone decides to physically challenge and dethrone me.”

He went on to say, “Numerous folks believe they yearn for that role and think they want to live up to that image, but they truly don’t. Some of the industry’s biggest names, stars of high caliber and talent, aspire to be that, but they don’t comprehend what that role demands. The phenomenal effort that embodies being that front-man is far from the glamour one might envisage. It’s not a heroic display. It’s not about grand motorcade appearances being showered in confetti. It’s about getting hands-on, being shoulder to shoulder with your squad, getting your hands dirty. It’s not for self-aggrandizement. That’s a fact that many desiring to don that role will fail to decipher.”
