Teddy Long Says Sting Needs To Stay Out Of The Ring Amid New AEW Deal

All Elite Wrestling’s newest contract signee, Sting, is being advised by Hall of Famer Teddy Long to steer clear of the ring for future engagements.

Recent buzz indicates that Sting has negotiated a licensing agreement with AEW. This kind of arrangement, similar to WWE Legends contract, might pave the way for additional on-screen involvements.

In the latest episode of the “Wrestling Time Machine” podcast, Long stressed that the seasoned wrestler should avoid stepping back into the ring. He stated,

“Sting needs to just take that deal and make these appearances and keep doing what he’s doing and stay out of the ring man. Enjoy the rest of your life.”

Sting’s last showdown happened at AEW Revolution 2024, where he and his teammate Darby Allin held onto the AEW World Tag Titles against The Young Bucks.

The promoter and owner of AEW, Tony Khan, celebrated Sting’s retirement as one of the most memorable moments in AEW’s history. Sting made his first appearance post-retirement at All In: London held in August.
