On the latest episode of WWE NXT aired last Tuesday, Lexis King made an unexpected approach to Charlie Dempsey, seeking a chance to compete for the NXT Heritage Cup in the hope of achieving greater recognition within the wrestling roster. Astonishingly, Dempsey gave an instant affirmative response; however, King then faced a new challenge as he struggled to secure a corner man.
Throughout the television episode, King expressed disappointment as his requests were continuously declined. He even suggested to Ava that somebody be nominated and made obligatory to support him in his corner, but she refused, leaving King on a constant quest for assistance.
However, it appears King’s efforts have finally paid fruit, from a highly unlikely source. During NXT Halloween Havoc, as Sarah Schreiber was interviewing King about his forthcoming match, they were cut short by William Regal. Surprisingly, Regal offered himself to serve as King’s corner man.
Regal praised King for striving to set himself apart from his father and hinted that an opportunity to express gratitude will materialise, insinuating he would play a major role in assisting King in claiming the Heritage Cup. However, given Regal’s notorious past actions and the fact that the current champion is Charlie Dempsey, his son, Regal’s motives could be perceived as a strategic trick to ensure Dempsey maintains his championship.
The unfolding scenario will be further revealed in the next episode of NXT airing on Tuesday. In the meanwhile, make sure to leave your speculations in the comments section!
