In a recent shocking turn of events at the Bound for Glory 2024, renowned figure John Layfield, also known as JBL, has proclaimed himself as the “protector” of the wrestling realm. This label followed his controversial act of sabotaging Joe Hendry’s chance at securing the TNA World Championship.
Throughout the event, Layfield delivered a double blow, first striking guest referee Frankie Kazarian with his signature move, the Clothesline from Hell, before knocking Hendry with the same.
Layfield further commented on his act via Twitter, assigning himself a new title.

Layfield hadn’t been utilizing the JBL moniker, but resurfaced in the TNA scene earlier this year. Interestingly enough, he’s provided recurring support to the World Champion, Nic Nemeth.
Nemeth himself has expressed uncertainty about Layfield’s sudden assistance. This isn’t the first time the two have been seen together, as Layfield was by Nemeth’s side during his reign as the AAA Mega Champion.
‘Desired Man’ has been the TNA World Champion since his victory in the Slammiversary, a six-man match which also included Hendry.
