Diamond Dallas Page recently discussed an important career decision during his time in WWE on the “Inside The Ropes” podcast, stating that his stalker gimmick was simultaneously the best and worst decision of his life.

For those unfamiliar with the storyline, DDP, upon signing with WWE, was revealed to be obsessively tracking Sarah, the then-spouse of The Undertaker. This crucial choice in his professional career was openly discussed by the WWE Hall of Famer during the podcast.

During the podcast, DDP shed light on how this controversial gimmick was first presented to him. He recollected, “Entering the scene with Kimberly, and with Shane McMahon’s presence, they handed me this entire stalker storyline. In my mind, I’m thinking, ‘Considering you’re witnessing Kimberly, it’s quite outlandish for me to be pursuing another woman?’ However, I was attempting to navigate the situation politically, stating that it didn’t suit my character. But coming from a perspective where this leads to the best of Undertaker seemed plausible. There was extensive debate over it and they were highly optimistic about its success.”

Upon agreeing to embark on this path, he acknowledged: “In expressing that it was the worst and best decision I ever made… I strictly held my silence. What I should have proposed was, ‘This concept would be exceptional for someone else. Should you wish to portray a People’s Champion clash, do refer to me.’ Quite honestly, if I had left at that point, I might not have even made it to the airport. I truly believe he would have called me back right away. I refrained from doing that. So why do I consider it the best decision? Because it significantly enhanced my acumen as a businessman.”
