Orange Cassidy – ‘I Don’t Think That I Am The Face Of AEW, Nor Should I Be’ + AEW Collision Lineup

Pro-wrestler Orange Cassidy has expressed his concern over being viewed as AEW’s poster boy. However, he accepts the need to get involved now that his friends are at risk.

Despite the ongoing urging featured on AEW TV for Cassidy to counter Jon Moxley’s Blackpool Combat Club, he has yet to step up.

In a fresh episode of “Good Karma Wrestling” podcast, the one-time AEW International Champion revealed that the recent attack on Chuck Taylor by Claudio Castagnoli on AEW Dynamite has caused him to rethink his stance.

Excerpts from the podcast include:

Regarding becoming AEW’s figurehead: “Never thought so and I don’t believe I am one or should ever be. I never intended for that to happen. All I want is to do my part and return home. Considering what happened previously, it’s clear I don’t have much of a choice. Previously, in AEW’s early days, the consensus was ‘He’s putting in effort. He cares this time.’ Now, I don’t feel I can choose. I need to step up and fight, whether I like it or not. Especially if those close to me are endangered, I’m left with no choice.”

Regarding the climax of Dynamite: “At that point, I was just a moment too late. I barged into the ring just as Claudio stomped the chair on his neck. I’m not usually farsighted, I just respond to the situations. As the day progressed, I was merely responding. Earlier, Chuck had confided in me things I had to hear, things a good friend would say. I just responded. I never imagined witnessing him laid out once again. He was previously harmed by Trent, and seeing that again was something I thought I would never see, but I did. At that moment, I cannot just say that it all went blank. The unexpected turn of events was disorientating. I’ll elaborate about my thoughts on Dynamite. The Fright Night thing.”

It has been confirmed by All Elite Wrestling that Ricochet and Lio Rush are set to face off this Saturday on AEW Collision.

This clash is the second confirmed for this week’s show, airing live on TNT.
