Professional WWE wrestler Natalya unveiled in a recent discourse that she previously suffered from legal blindness in her left eye.
In her dialogue with Sports Illustrated, she revealed that the condition had been a result of some astigmatism in her eye. Natalya managed to resolve the issue through surgical procedures during the summer break.
Emphasizing on the notable points from the conversation with Sports Illustrated:
In regard to concealing the condition from her colleagues: “I believe hardly anyone in WWE was aware of it as I maintained utmost secrecy about it. I was actually born with astigmatism… Indeed, I was legally blind in my left eye.”
Speaking about the inability to find a cure for a long time: “The required technology was just not available to rectify it. I was not applicable for LASIK due to the distinctive shape of my eye. Also, I was ineligible for the lens implant procedure available at the time recognizing the structure of my eye.”
Expressing her frustration in adaptating to a contact lens to alleviate the condition: “I finally gave up. I decided not to wear contact lenses. I just chose to remove it and let my right eye carry the burden.”
On finally deciding to undergo surgery and correct the vision this past summer: “I found myself with some free time during this summer amidst my contract renewal. I decided, if I get this spare time, I would approach WWE to authorize this correction. I sought help from an ophthalmologist at Newsom Eye in Tampa. They introduced me to the latest technology unavailable earlier… They even managed to ameliorate my right eye. I undertook surgery in my right eye to further enhance it and now my right and left eye work in complete harmony with each other.”
