The legal representative for Vince McMahon has vocally opposed the latest litigation directed towards the former Chairman of WWE, in relation to the notorious 90s Ring Boy scandal.

We reported earlier on eWn that the lawsuit claims McMahon and his spouse, Linda, were aware of minors being sexually exploited but failed to intervene.

McMahon’s legal counsel, Jessica Rosenburg, provided the statement below:

“More than 30 years ago, the columnist Phil Mushnick tried to make headlines with these same false claims. Those allegations were never proven and ultimately became the subject of a defamation lawsuit against Mr. Mushnick. The negligence claims against Mr. McMahon that were asserted today rely on these same absurd, defamatory and utterly meritless statements by Mr. Mushnick. We will vigorously defend Mr. McMahon and are confident the court will find that these claims are untrue and unfounded.”

The infamous Ring Boy scandal led to the dismissal of Mel Phillips, Terry Garvin, and Pat Patterson from WWE. Patterson, however, was later reinstated.

WWF employed boys to carry out tasks at their events. It’s alleged in the lawsuit that Philips was involved in transporting these boys to various venues where they were abused.

The lawsuit also mentions that the victims now feel empowered to step forward with their case due to the legal action by Janel Grant following McMahon’s departure from the WWE.
