In a fresh episode of the well-noted “In the Kliq” podcast, former TNT Champion known as Powerhouse Hobbs shared his reflection on Bryan Danielson’s departure from full-time wrestling, which came in the wake of his loss at AEW WrestleDream 2024.
Find below some noteworthy points from the podcast discussion:
Discussing Bryan Danielson’s retirement from full-time wrestling, Hobbs explained, “I see pro wrestling analogous to the NFL, where anything can occur at any given match or moment. The subsequent fallout of his retirement was quite unexpected. On a personal front, I’m extremely thankful to Bryan for his contribution to pro wrestling and AEW, but things transpired.”
Regarding the void left by Danielson’s absence in AEW, he stated, “Certainly, we’re losing an influential leader, a mentor to many wrestlers. So, there will be a certain leadership gap, however, numerous other personalities are likely to rise to the occasion.”
In a recent edition of her “Mone Mag” newsletter, AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone reminisced about her early days in the wrestling world and credited Tamina Snuka for teaching her the significance of giving back.
Here are some highlights from the newsletter:
Touching upon the traditions rookies are expected to undertake in wrestling, Mone mentioned, “Being a wrestling novice often means going the extra mile to support the veterans and the show. It includes offering to cover gas and hotel expenses, and often involves driving the veterans around. These practices, while unwritten, have been traditionally passed down through generations by veterans.”
Reflecting on what she learned from Tamina Snuka, Mone said, “Snuka instilled in me the values of kindness and the importance of paying it forward. Not many veterans impart such wisdom, but Tamina certainly did. Her uniqueness was highlighted when she, as a ‘veteran’, covered my expenses, when I, as a ‘newbie’, couldn’t afford it, despite being an NXT Superstar. I can never forget her kindness and the teachings.”
