Upon her availability to be signed in late last year, Deonna Purrazzo promptly secured her spot with AEW.
Purrazzo’s first appearance for AEW happened on the January 3rd, 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite, during which she faced off with Mariah May.
Speaking on a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, Purrazzo shared details about her AEW debut taking place in her home state of New Jersey. She expressed,
“Honestly, that’s how the schedule lined up. When I spoke to Tony Khan before I signed, I had said to him, this kind of seems like we’re on the same page with a lot of things. Making my debut at the first Dynamite of the New Year in New Jersey would be like a dream come true for me.”
In relation to how the process of her arrival at AEW was expedited, Purrazzo further clarified,
“That conversation took place around mid-December. Surprisingly, it only took about three weeks to finalize everything. It was a rather last-minute arrangement. I got to know about it, we had that conversation, I pitched that idea, and signed the contract on the 1st. It felt like, we had just about two days, and I hadn’t heard anything. I was genuinely upset because I thought it might not happen. Tuesday afternoon came, still nothing. But then, at 5pm, Sonjay Dutt gave me a call and asked if I could make it to Newark, and of course, I said yes. Hence, a 24-hour turnover happened.”
Since her debut, Purrazzo has had 20 matches for AEW, with her most noteworthy one being against then-Women’s Champion Toni Storm at Revolution.
Her latest match for AEW took place on the September 6, 2024 episode of Collision, resulting in a loss against Hikaru Shida.
