In a recent episode of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Bully Ray drew an interesting comparison between the climactic conclusion of the latest All Elite Wrestling (AEW) WrestleDream 2024 event and the legendary sequel from the Star Wars saga, The Empire Strikes Back.
Ray highlighted the striking similarity in the scene where HOOK, Darby Allin, and Orange Cassidy are seen solemnly observing The Blackpool Combat Club, a moment he felt echoed the profound impact the ending of the aforementioned sci-fi classic had on its viewers.
Expressing his thoughts, Ray emphasized, “One of the last shots we saw, if not the last shot, was of Darby Allin, and Orange Cassidy, and Hook. What transpired on Saturday night at WrestleDream is akin to The Empire Strikes Back. At the swan-song of The Empire Strikes Back, the heels maintain the upper hand and they do so dominantly. Nonetheless, they leave behind a glimmer of optimism”.
Significantly, the AEW WrestleDream 2024 event concluded with Jon Moxley overcoming Bryan Danielson to snatch the highly coveted AEW World Championship title.
