Janel Grant, a former staffer at WWE, has received backing from her legal team in response to Dr. Carlon Colker’s move to dismiss her request for her medical files from his Peak Wellness clinic.
According to POST Wrestling, Grant hasn’t been able to obtain her full medical files from Colker, a situation which could possibly lead to a civil lawsuit against the doctor and his clinic.
Grant had earlier submitted a petition to the Connecticut Superior Court in July, alleging that former WWE Chairman, Vince McMahon, had suggested she seek medical care at Colker’s Peak Wellness Clinic. Grant further accuses Colker of prescribing unknown medication and I.V. infusions and states that she suffered sexual assault at the hands of a clinic employee and McMahon. These accusations form part of the lawsuit Grant filed in January 2024, against McMahon, WWE, and former WWE executive John Laurinaitis.
In the legal filing, the lawyers representing Grant stated, “Ms. Grant filed this bill of discovery for the purpose of investigating potential claims of civil conspiracy, aiding and abetting, fraud, assault, battery, RICO, RICO conspiracy, and/or breach of fiduciary duty against Dr. Colker and Peak Wellness.”
Additionally, Grant’s legal representatives are reportedly probing into Colker’s possible recommendation of lawyer Jonathan M. Shapiro to assist Grant with the negotiation of a nondisclosure agreement she signed with McMahon in early 2022. Shapiro is said to have previously provided legal services to Colker.
Ann Callis, one of Grant’s attorneys, stated, “Imagine being at your most vulnerable, and the doctor you are told to see only makes you feel worse. Our filing today makes clear that Dr. Colker violated ethical and medical standards when he injected unknown substances into Janel’s body and directed her to take unlabeled pills while dismissing her basic questions about those drugs. Peak Wellness owes Janel Grant answers and the clinic’s secrecy and evasion must come to an end.”
Grant accuses McMahon of funding her consultations at the Peak Wellness Clinic from November 22, 2019, until April 15, 2022, which suggests she continued to patronize the clinic after signing an NDA that terminated her employment with WWE. Presently, her lawsuit is temporarily paused pending the outcome of a federal criminal investigation by the US government.
