WWE Hall of Famer, Jerry “The King” Lawler has given an update on his current health status. In a recent discussion with Bill Apter, for the “WrestleBinge” podcast by Sportskeeda, Lawler opened up about his health condition following a stroke he suffered last year. He also shared his thoughts on whether or not he misses being at the commentary table.
Some key takeaways from the podcast include:
When asked about his health, Lawler shared, “Well, of late, my health has been quite a challenge. I’ve suffered a couple of strokes. That’s what led to the end of my contract with WWE, specifically for commentating. My voice isn’t in perfect shape, and it’s just not up to par for commentating. However, I still remain connected with WWE through a Legends Deal. I’m still part of the family…and a beneficial part of this deal is that, four times a year, I receive a handsome paycheck, which is certainly good,” he said with a chuckle.
When questioned if Lawler misses being behind the commentary table, he replied, “No, not in the least. When I was in that role, I was just being myself – that’s all. It was another chapter in my life. Towards the end of a show, I would start to wonder, ‘How much longer will this go on?’ Once the credits rolled, I would just get up and go on with my life. I’d leave the studio and go back to being Jerry Lawler.”
