Wrestling legend, Jerry Lawler, recently shared his opinion that Roman Reigns possesses the potential to evolve into the perfect babyface in WWE, irrespective of his past heel character and failed attempts to win over wrestling fans.
Roman Reigns, over the years, was the WWE’s preferred top babyface. However, this strategy often triggered a negative reaction from fans. This lead to the decision of turning Reigns into a heel in the summer of 2020.
During an episode of the “WrestleBinge” podcast, Lawler discussed the current role of Reigns in WWE and his feud with The Bloodline. He commented:
“I think he’s gonna be perfect. I think he’ll be the perfect babyface against those guys. When you say, ‘Oh, it’s worked out perfect,’ well, it’s worked out perfect in wrestling. It’s done it so many times. I know I’ve been in that same situation where you be a hot heel and then another heel comes along and they wanna see the old guy get rid of the young guy, and that’s what has happened here. It’s just classical wrestling stuff happening again.”
The news broke that following his return to WWE television at SummerSlam 2024, Reigns had joined the face roster as per WWE’s internal records.
At the 2024 WWE Bad Blood event, Reigns paired with Cody Rhodes, another popular babyface, to secure victory over Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
Reigns exhibited more babyface characteristics during the recent week’s SmackDown, especially when he acknowledged Jimmy Uso who came back to support him at Bad Blood.
