Recently on his podcast “1 Of A Kind”, Rob Van Dam discussed AEW’s acquisition of Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin. He commended their athletic abilities and speculated on the potential benefits their addition could bring to AEW, such as a shift towards more skilled, mat-based wrestling instead of stunts and dives.

Van Dam also contemplated about the prevalence of scripted matches in wrestling today. Reflecting on his past experiences, he shared how he and fellow wrestlers could put on a show without prior discussions. Regardless of them not being mega hits, he believes they were well received by the fans.

Check out highlights from Rob Van Dam’s podcast below:

On Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin joining AEW:
Shelton Benjamin’s one of the best athletes in the business… MVP, he’s tough… They’re part of Hurt Business and their skills could potentially shift AEW towards more mat wrestling.

On scripted matches:
Nowadays, I think that’s the preferred way. In contrast to my wrestling days, we usually didn’t plan out the match, we just went out there and wrestled.

Meanwhile, on Booker T’s recent “Hall of Fame” podcast, he offered his perspective on Shelton Benjamin signing with AEW and the latter’s consistency in growth.

Booker T stated that he was thrilled to have his associates join AEW, but voiced concerns about AEW’s declining viewership and the company’s lack of attention to such issues.

Check out highlights from Booker T’s podcast below:

On Shelton Benjamin joining AEW:
I’m glad that Tony Khan has welcomed them all and continued the Hurt Syndicate… I like this a lot.

On AEW not paying attention to important metrics:
I’m concerned about the declining viewership… It seems like AEW is not focusing on the right areas and it needs to be addressed if they are to thrive.
