Vince Russo didn’t hide his disapproval of Kevin Owens’ antagonistic turn at the WWE Bad Blood 2024, a shift that, in Russo’s eyes, couldn’t have been more blatantly scripted.
The show ended with Owens unexpectedly confronting Cody Rhodes by his tour bus, following weeks of escalating animosity between the wrestling duo.
During a recent episode of his “Legion of RAW” podcast, Russo vocally criticized the segment that went viral, having been caught on camera by WWE fans. He commented,
“Pal, it’s unbelievable that the bar has been dropped so low that fans really think Owens’ attack on Cody was filmed by a spectator. They genuinely think it was a real fight despite Kevin Owens throwing half-hearted rabbit punches. Are you joking? It could not have appeared more staged.”
Despite Russo’s disdain, the segment was well-received within the WWE circles, who lauded the unplanned feel of the entire angle.
Fightful Select reported that Rhodes seemed a bit “rattled”, and has promised to address the incident on WWE SmackDown.
Aside from Owens, Rhodes is eyeing the WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER, against whom he’s slated to compete for the Crown Jewel Title next month.
Roman Reigns joined forces with Rhodes at WWE Bad Blood 2024 to defeat The Bloodline, although he’s made it clear he’s ready for a rematch for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title.
As if Rhodes doesn’t have enough on his plate, he also has to contend with The Rock, who made a surprise appearance at the climactic end of WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta, GA.
