During the recent session of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, AEW superstar Thunder Rosa and TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth shared their thoughts on the NXT Women’s Championship match between Roxanne Perez and Giulia that transpired on the previous week’s WWE NXT episode.
Here are some of the key remarks from the podcast:
Speaking on the decision of placing Giulia’s bout against Roxanne Perez at the beginning of the WWE NXT episode, Thunder Rosa stated: “Well, I was surprised it was an opening match, but it makes sense. I think that’s a huge spot to be in: opening, because that’s where you get everybody’s attention and you retain the public.”
When asked about her opinion on how the match unfolded, Rosa commented: “They did an amazing job on doing that. I really liked the finish… Giulia did really, really well. I don’t know if this is her first truly huge show, but the pressure was inevitable considering what everyone expected of her, so one should bear that in mind when evaluating the match… On the other hand, Roxanne Perez simply appeared as good as she’s ever been, and I’m incredibly proud of her.”
Nic Nemeth also shared his views about how they efficiently set the mood for the entire show, saying: “Most of the time it didn’t seem like a downgrade, it seemed like we wanted to have an enjoyable match, but we also wanted to set the pace for the night and make everyone think ‘wow, that’s just the beginning? What’s next in the main event??’ And I think it happened a lot. It’s commendable that we entrusted these women with that responsibility and they delivered. They should certainly take pride in themselves.”
