During a recent episode of “83 Weeks”, his podcast, Eric Bischoff delved into the prospects of AEW broadcasting Shockwave on FOX, and pointed out potential programming schedules among other matters.
Here are some key takeaways from the episode:
Discussing the likelihood of AEW’s Shockwave being broadcasted on FOX, Bischoff commented, “It’s not going to land on broadcast television. That’s a fantasy. Swerve, I understand his excitement. He’s doing a commendable job promoting his company following a substantial contract renewal. However, his assertion that the Fox Network would replace SmackDown, which draws approximately 2.3 million viewers weekly, with an AEW show that struggles to gain 600 or 700,000 viewers a week, is far-fetched. Shows like Rampage and Collision draw in 300 or 400,000 viewers per week. Can anyone actually believe that FOX Network would replace SmackDown, which had two and a half million viewers, with Rampage or Collision? Swerve’s enthusiasm got the better of him there and his lack of insight and knowledge is revealing.”
When asked about the potential broadcast day, Bischoff said, “Monday is for sure out of the question. Tuesday is occupied by NXT on the CW Network, so that’s not an option. Wednesday is available, and Thursday could be a possibility. I can’t see it happening on a Friday for multiple reasons.”
