Former WWE Superstar Layla recently made an appearance on the “They Made Their Way To The Ring” podcast. During her discussion, she brought up LayCool’s famous mean girl-style monikers for their opponents, including the infamous “Piggy James” nickname used against Mickie James.

The highlights from the podcast include:

On the topic of Mickie James’ nickname: Layla stated, “The first principle, Mickie James, sparked a lot of controversies. I’m not going to repeat it. Vince was the one who came up with it. It was not our invention and we had no involvement in it. We were heavily criticised for it.”

Regarding the nicknames for Kelly Kelly and others: Layla explained, “I think it was Michelle who created the nickname ‘Smelly Kelly.’ For Maria, the ‘Unfed Redhead,’ I don’t remember. I wasn’t even aware we called her that. As for ‘Manazon’ for Beth Phoenix, I’m uncertain. These names were a product of their time. They were offensive, but fulfilled their purpose. We were designed to be disliked but found amusing and obnoxious.”

In a recent episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns appeared in a segment shot at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium. Reigns, the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, later appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” to talk about the experience.

Reigns spoke on the experience: “Walking into Bobby Dodd [Stadium], I grew up in Georgia. However, I am unfamiliar with this place as it’s known for intelligent students. As wrestling fans are aware, there’s always tension between odd couple tag teams. This was a great way to highlight that there’s more to this match. We both agreed on a peaceful coexistence.”

Reigns also mentioned, “We refrained from engaging in discussions and stayed on opposite sides of the field. We met at the center, went through our part without any interruptions and credit goes to Mr. Heyman, JB [Jeremy Borash], and Rob Fee for their great work in putting things together.”
