Scheduled to defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Bayley at this Saturday’s WWE Bad Blood 2024 is Nia Jax.
During her recent discussion with Cathy Kelley, Jax took the opportunity to build anticipation for her upcoming championship defense and talk about her growth in WWE till now.
Key points from the interview are outlined below:
During her discussion of her defeat to Bayley at NXT TakeOver: London: “When we stepped into the ring for the NXT TakeOver in London, the intensity was so high. That match gave me the chance to possibly become the NXT Women’s Champion. Being a part of the NXT brand at that time, we felt like we were creating a revolution in women’s wrestling. Even though I wasn’t able to ultimately win the title, the journey has brought me to where I am now.”
Regarding her hiatus from the WWE being beneficial: “In retrospect, my time off from WWE was a blessing in disguise. Initially, it was tough realizing that I won’t be performing in front of the audience and relishing my travels. But it reignited my love for wrestling. Now I see it as one of the best things that happened to me, an opportunity to reconnect with Nia Jax.”
Explaining her lack of friendliness within the WWE: “Being overly friendly isn’t necessary here, this is a competition-driven profession, and the championship is the prize. I’m here to excel, not for fulfilling people’s emotional needs. If you are in need of a social circle, perhaps you should seek a profession at your local grocery store. Over here, I seek competition, I crave to be unparalleled, and that’s what I have achieved.”
