During WWE SummerSlam 2024, Jelly Roll launched a chokeslam attack against A-Town Down Under and Austin Theory.

Austin Theory revealed in a recent episode of “Battleground” podcast that the chokeslam was actually his proposal and not the original plan with Triple H.

Theory commented,About the chokeslam from Jelly Roll, it was not intended to be so. The suggestive line was ‘maybe a chokeslam,’ but originally it was supposed to be a scoop slam. I discussed this with Triple H, ‘Hey, trust me on this one. Let him do a chokeslam on me. It would look incredible. He just needs to raise his arm up.’ And as expected, we made it happen, the crowd loved it, it became a great trend. Now I understand why I had to do that. ‘Is this going to help this? Is this what we’re trying to achieve for the WWE right now and the position they’re positioning me?’ Whatever comes my way, I’m game. Whether it’s The Rock or Jelly Roll, I’m all in.”

Additionally, on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray explained why The Miz no longer fits as a main eventer in the WWE.

Here are a few takeaways from the podcast:

About The Miz: “The Miz, in my opinion, should no longer be seen in a world champion, main event position. I don’t foresee The Miz competing against GUNTHER or others similar. Miz is best as a comic antagonist, being loved or despised.”

On why The Miz can’t return to the main WWE scene: “Despite being a 40-something seasoned WWE veteran, he’s probably not due for a push back to the primary event realm, but there’s no question that his significance matches anyone on the main stage.”

The illustrious journey of The Miz, now 43, in the WWE spans approximately two decades. He bears the unique achievement of being the only wrestler in WWE history to earn the Grand Slam Champion title twice.
