During his recent visit to “The Breakfast Club,” former AEW World Champion, Swerve Strickland, shared his professional experiences with Shawn Michaels in WWE NXT, including the advice imparted by the Heartbreak Kid.
Here are some noteworthy takeaways from the podcast:
Speaking on his experience of watching tape with Shawn Michaels, Strickland said, “I asked Shawn, ‘Can we review my past matches together, for an hour maybe?’ He asked me to give him three matches and email them. He said he would choose one and we could review it on Tuesday. True to his word, we ended up watching one of my indie matches from about four years ago. He wanted to know why they signed me, what was it about me that brought me here. He was very quiet throughout the viewing, just observing. William Regal does the same.”
Regarding the advice that Michaels gave him, Strickland recalled, “[Michaels] sent me a text which read, ‘Okay, they want to see a bit more aggression from you, so bring that in your next match.’”
