In a recent episode of his “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff opened up about several topics, which included the imminent expiration of Dustin Rhodes’ contract with AEW this month. He also discussed Dustin’s considerable influence in the wrestling industry, the chance of him making a comeback with WWE, among other aspects.
In the past, we at eWn had reported that Dustin is highly likely to extend his contract with AEW.
Bischoff highlighted the following on his podcast:
Discussing the upcoming end of Dustin Rhodes’s AEW contract, Bischoff stated, “Assuming it to be true, it’s an excellent chance for Dustin to plan his retirement if he hasn’t done so already. I couldn’t be happier for Dustin, a gent with an amazing talent and heart. He’s somewhat been underestimated when it comes to his creative instincts and thought process.”
Bischoff, considering a potential return to WWE for Dustin, said, “On the contrary, there’s a wealth of storyline that could be explored in WWE with Cody. That’s where my mind goes. In my opinion, what else can Dustin bring to his character in AEW as he’s already been there for half a decade? But in WWE, a wide range of stories can be woven involving Dustin and Cody. Right from their brotherly bond, to Dustin extending his support to Cody and stepping in when the situation demands or when it seems right. On the flip side, you have the elements of jealousy and envy that make for compelling storytelling. This could also be the central premise. If I were in Dustin’s shoes and there was such an opportunity on the horizon, assuming he was financially secure, I’d jump at it. The potential for storytelling in WWE would be simply phenomenal.”
