In 2022, reports of hush-money allegations led Vince McMahon to step down as CEO and Chairman of WWE. Despite distancing himself from the company, McMahon managed to handle creative aspects until he left in September due to the WWE-UFC merger. He took on the role of Executive Chairman at TKO, only to retire earlier this year amidst serious claims put forward by Janel Grant, a former WWE personnel.
Grant filed a lawsuit against McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, leveling a string of charges, including sex trafficking and rape, against McMahon. A Netflix original, the documentary “Mr. McMahon” slated for a premiere on September 25, 2024, will cast light on multiple sexual misconduct accusations that McMahon has faced over many years from various women.
McMahon expressed his disapproval towards the release of his documentary via a tweet on April 3, 2023, his first in a while. In response to McMahon’s comments on the “Mr. McMahon” docuseries, Grant’s attorney has now come forward with a statement.
Representing Grant, Attorney Kendra Barkoff Lamy of SKDK took to Twitter to issue her statement. In distinct terms, she stated, “Vince McMahon physically and emotionally abused, sexually assaulted and human trafficked Janel Grant for more than two years. Branding his horrific and criminal behavior “an affair” is nothing but a sad attempt to save his tattered reputation. We anticipate the “Mr. McMahon” docuseries will shed light on his abhorrent and criminal actions, painting a true picture of his abusive and exploitative behavior. “Ms. Grant refuses to be silenced by McMahon anymore.”
Her statement continued, “Ms. Grant’s story, though repeatedly ignored and particularly painful, can aid other victims of abuse to find their voice. Our aim is to hold McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE accountable and ensure that Ms. Grant gets her fair day in court.”
