In a recent interview on “The Masked Man Show” podcast, WWE Superstar Carmelo Hayes spoke about the creative differences between leaders Triple H and Shawn Michaels, his bond with Bron Breakker, among other things.
Here are some key points from the podcast discussion:
Regarding the contrast of Shawn Michaels’ creativity with that of Triple H, Hayes stated: “I find the difference to be a positive one, not negative in any way. I perceive Shawn as someone who is passionate and emotional in his reactions. Whereas with Hunter, he always maintains a cool and composed demeanor. You never really see him lose his composure, he is calm and collected all the time.”
Speaking about needing to be more alert around Shawn Michaels, he mentioned: “There is absolutely no issue with being emotional and passionate, but, with Shawn, you are required to be on your toes at times because he is intensely passionate about his vision and wants it to be realized exactly. If it doesn’t happen his way, he gets passionate. Similarly, Hunter has his passion, but he is more laid back. He never loses his temper.”
When discussing Bron Breakker, Hayes expressed: “I’m very proud of Bron. His success was bound to happen. Bron is a unique individual. Regardless of our history, Bron and I share a good rapport. It’s a unique camaraderie that we have, knowing we were both a core part of — I don’t want to portray it as a bad thing — but the heart of 2.0. Shawn [Michaels] himself gave credit to us for being heavily relied upon in many areas. With him holding the NXT title and me having the North American title, we were tasked with maintaining the show’s balance.”
Touching upon the bond he formed with Breakker in NXT, he recalled: “We sometimes laugh about things like, ‘Remember the incident with Taker and Cena?’ We just share a glance and wonder, what an incredible journey so far. We share a unique connection, understanding the trials we had to navigate and the pressures that were placed on us to perform. We accomplished this despite the scepticism from many.”
