WWE Hall of Famer, JBL, has expressed his expectation about the comeback of former Nexus leader, Wade Barrett, into WWE matches after an eight-year absence. On an episode of the “Huge Pop” podcast recently, JBL elaborated on his belief that Barrett’s return to wrestling is impending.
“In my opinion, he’s still in his prime. Besides, he was quite the performer back in the day. Yes, I think it’s quite probable that he will return to the ring. If I were in his shoes, I’d definitely consider it. There’s a lifetime to spend on commentary. However, your wrestling years are limited. If I were Barrett, and I still felt the rush, I’d give wrestling another shot. Even if it doesn’t pan out, you can always return to commentary. But if it does work out, you’ve accomplished something big before delving back into commentary,” revealed JBL.
Currently playing out his role as a commentator on WWE’s Monday Night RAW, Barrett has also been a commentator on SmackDown and WWE NXT. JBL’s certainty about in-ring returns stems from his own experience, having himself come back to wrestling in 2008 after being a commentator for over 18 months on SmackDown.
In discussions about his return to the ring, Barrett revealed he’s keen on having a face-off with Drew McIntyre. Having held the title of the Intercontinental Champion five times and once being the King of the Ring, Barrett’s return to wrestling would indeed be a monumental event.
