In the professional wrestling world, Jim Cornette is a well-known figure who sparks both admiration and controversy. According to Jim Ross, the famed wrestling commentator, the volatile landscape of the industry feels the absence of the legendary manager.

In a recent episode of Ross’s podcast, “Grilling JR”, he extended birthday wishes to Cornette while applauding his exhaustive impact and contribution to the wrestling industry. Ross stated,

“Corny’s birthday calls for celebration. His brilliance is unchallenged, arguably the most astute manager I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with, along with Paul Heyman. It was an absolute delight collaborating with these stalwarts, Corny being particularly exceptional. Undeniably, he holds a special place.”

“Despite all the controversies, the disagreements and his ability to agitate people, I have an immense respect for him. Today’s wrestling world might find his methods unconventional, some may even call it insane… but I deeply miss the elements Cornette brought to the table. His presence in the booking committees was palpable, always brimming with innovative ideas. To our surprise, he introduced a logical approach to the aspects we were working on, as he thoroughly understood the business.”

Ross further elucidated his sentiments by saying that he doesn’t object to Cornette’s controversial nature given that he still significantly contributes to professional wrestling through his podcast.

Cornette ended his association with the NWA in 2019 after a comment perceived as perpetuating racial stereotypes connecting African Americans and fried chicken, stirred considerable controversy.

In the realm of his podcast, Cornette doesn’t shy away from controversy. He often voices criticism of wrestlers, a habit that has led to public disputes with wrestlers like Kenny Omega and Chuck Taylor.
