AEW’s CEO, Tony Khan shared his immense pleasure on the accomplishments of AEW for 2024 in a recent conversation.
While discussing with AMNY, a popular publication, Tony Khan, the top executive of AEW, reflected on his preferred memories of AEW from 2024. His words were,
“Just this year, we’ve experienced a plethora of remarkable moments. Talking about the AEW World Tag Team Championship, can’t forget the day when Sting and Darby Allin managed to outperform the Young Bucks to seize the World Tag Team Championship. Both the legends, Sting and Darby Allin, bowed out as undefeated warriors. That match can easily go down in history as one of the best, and for me personally, witnessing it at Revolution in Greensboro was a night to remember.”
Further, he added, “Undoubtedly, one moment that stands out the most for me personally would be when Bryan Danielson confronted the maestro Swerve Strickland in the legendary Wembley Stadium and emerged as the AEW World Champion. It was an extraordinary moment.”
Recently, David Finlay conveyed his wish-full thought to NJPW1982.com about his inclination towards grappling Jay White at the Wrestle Dynasty crossover event slated for January 2025. He expressed,
“At one point, I briefly contemplated wrestling Tony Khan in a Dog Pound Cage bout for the entirety of his wealth, though I’m not sure he is valiant enough for that. However, with my unbeaten record, I don’t see a hurdle there. Nonetheless, there’s this one match that I’ve been contemplating which I deem improbable for many reasons.”
Later, he said, “If Hiroshi Tanahashi, our honorable President, were courageous enough to revoke a specific prohibition. And that particular individual had the nerve to face me, then there could be a match that fans are yearning to watch. Imagining a scenario where Tanahashi abolishes the prohibition for one night, permitting me to challenge this particular individual, could certainly stir things up. However, I doubt Tony Khan would want to risk another one of his prized assets getting damaged, so the likelihood of this occurring is slim.”
