The renowned Lucha Brothers, consisting of Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, are reported to be transitioning to WWE. As opposed to the traditional method of debuting in the minor leagues such as NXT, they’ve been assigned to debut directly on WWE’s principal roster.
Since their initiation into Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2019, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been instrumental and prominent figures. Not surprisingly, pervasive wrestling news indicates that the Lucha Brothers’ migration to WWE was not a spontaneous decision.
The contract Penta had with AEW had allegedly expired between August and September, while Fenix’s expiry was looming this year. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Penta’s shift from AEW was somewhat anticipated.
Though slightly more surprising is the earlier than expected exit of Fenix, largely due to the special permission granted by Tony Khan, allowing him to leave his contract ahead of the set deadline. This generous consideration was possibly due to Fenix’s unanticipated and prolonged sidelining because of sustained injuries, which inadvertently elongated his time under the AEW contract.
