In a memorable episode of AEW Dynamite aired on May 1st, Kenny Omega graced the television screen for the first time since December 2023. The segment focused on his journey towards recovery after being diagnosed with diverticulitis.
Post his appearance, The Elite, a group including personalities like The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada initiated an unexpected assault, leading to Omega’s consequent temporary absence from the AEW broadcasts.
Omega subsequently had to undergo surgery. Currently, he is slowly progressing towards full recovery, aiming at regaining his fitness and resilience in order to make a prominent comeback in the wrestling ring.
Despite his endeavors, Omega, the previous AEW World Champion, still struggles with weakness around his abdominal area and hence, refrains from taking heavy impacts.
The diagnosis of Omega’s condition happened just in time, saving him from a potentially fatal blood infection that could have had a 50 percent mortality rate. Nevertheless, there is no definitive timeline for Omega’, often referred to as “The Cleaner”, to return to wrestling.
Recently, Omega had a reunion of sorts with Kota Ibushi, his partner from the Golden Lovers team.
Ibushi took to his Instagram account to post a picture of himself with Omega. The caption of the photo, as translated, read:
“We’re just a few steps away from world domination! It’s been a while since we had a golden practice. We’re not done yet. Next AEW!!!”
