In a recent episode of AEW Collision, Nigel McGuinness unveiled how he managed to secure a match with Bryan Danielson for AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam.

This week, McGuinness disclosed he has uncertainties whether Danielson would be available to compete. He remarked,

“Nobody, not even Tony Khan or I, can confirm if Danielson will be cleared to fight. Consider Jon Moxley who persuaded Darby Allin to stake his title opportunity purely on a hunch. That’s what I conveyed to Tony Khan. There’s no certainty that Bryan Danielson will not turn up at Grand Slam. If he does show up and as Darby Allin is not anymore able to fight against him, I expressed my interest to take his place. So, I’ll be present at Arthur Ashe. The real question is, will Bryan be there?

The crux of my statement is this: Bryan, if you aren’t present, it’s not due to your health status. It’s because you’re scared of me. Tony, I’ve made this clear earlier, now it’s time to prove it to the world. Take a glance at the past. Sixteen years ago, Bryan Danielson and I were fierce competitors on the same level, battling for the Ring of Honor World title, matches that drew the attention of the entire wrestling universe. Yet, no one has ever defeated Bryan Danielson as decisively, as mercilessly and as comprehensively as I have. Despite his career victories, like securing the AEW World title at Wembley Stadium, he still can’t shake off the memories of confronting me in the ring.

Fast forward sixteen years, I’m at the peak of my physical condition. I’m better than Bryan who is merely a physical ruin now. But don’t stress Bryan, whether you win, lose or draw, you’ll depart Arthur Ashe as the AEW World title holder. To be frank, if you do appear, I’m going to attempt to terminate your career. Decision time, Bryan.”
