Check out the behind-the-scenes updates and insights into last evening’s WWE SmackDown TV tapings. Insights come straight from Fightful Select.
Michael Hayes and Bobby Roode are credited for producing the Steel Cage Match between Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. Moreover, they also produced the key event segment, which included observations from Nick Aldis, Roman Reigns, and Rhodes. Notably, while Reigns’ involvement was not listed in the show’s internal rundowns, his appearance on the show was always part of the plan.
Another significant contribution came from Petey Williams, who managed the production of both Michin vs Piper Niven and Andrade vs Carmelo Hayes matches. Furthermore, he also produced a non-televised match featuring Sheamus and Ludwig Kaiser. Worth mentioning here that the Michin vs Niven match was cut short due to constraints related to timing.
The match between Randy Orton & Kevin Owens and A-Town Down Under was produced by Jason Jordan. Additionally, he managed the segment involving Nia Jax, Bayley, and Tiffany Stratton.
Nick Aldis took charge of producing an off-air match featuring Baron Corbin & Apollo Crews versus Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows. He also managed the production for the face-off between Elektra Lopez and Kairi Sane, which took place for WWE Speed.
At this moment, there are no thoughts of integrating Vickie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Ron Simmons, or Teddy Long in the foreseeable future.
Originally, there were plans for GUNTHER, Ludwig Kaiser, and Damian Priest to appear in dark matches, but that did not happen due to unpredictable reasons.
